PO341 code

If i accelerate aggressively and set cruise control on….after a few seconds the cruise kicks off and the check engine light and VSA lights go on and cruise control cant be set on again. I pull over and shut engine off and read a PO341 and 83-01 code on my cheaper Innova diagnostic tool. I then clear the codes restart engine and accelerated slower then set cruise at 40mph … use the Set button to get speed up to 65 'ish and cruise kicks off again but no lights light up. Cruise cant be set on again though until i stop engine and restart.
Then i got back on highway and accelerate slowly t
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
There could be an issue with the cruise control switch and the brake switch. The VSA light refers to the brake system and the light maybe coming on for the brake switch not functioning properly causing the cruise control switch to disengage. The code P0341 refers to the camshaft position sensor, which could be coming on for the sensor malfunctioning. If the camshaft position sensor is not reading properly, then the cruise control will disengage as the engine is not in time correctly. If you need further assistance with your cruise control disengaging on its own, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

If the camshaft position sensor is not reading properly, then the cruise control will disengage as the engine is not in time correctly.
P0566 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for “Cruise Control Off Signal Malfunction”. This can happen for multiple reasons and a mechanic needs to diagnose the specific cause for this code to be triggered in your situation.
The systems of a car are highly interconnected, which means that a seemingly insignificant issue can be an early warning sign for a bigger problem that you shouldn`t ignore. In the case of a faulty cruise control system, it can point to issues with acceleration or even your engine.
When the check engine light does come on the cruise control light will blink indicating that the cruise control has been disabled and the vehicle`s dynamic stability control light will come on indicating that it also has been disabled.
If your cruise control system is electronically controlled, it will have an associated fuse. If there`s an electrical problem, the fuse will fail in order to keep other wiring from getting damaged. Try replacing the fuse. If it solves the problem and the cruise control keeps working, that`s great!
Examine the vacuum lines to ensure that they are intact and not leaking. The photo at the beginning of the article shows the most common failure of cruise control systems, vacuum hoses that are leaking or deteriorated to the point they will not stay attached to the cruise control servo.
Note that a weak battery can randomly knock other features offline, too, including adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and many more.
Reasons for failure of the camshaft sensor can be: Mechanical damage. Break in the encoder wheel. Internal short circuits.
A loose gas cap is one of the most common reasons for the check engine light to go on. Check that your gas cap is screwed on securely and that it`s in good condition. If you have a tank of bad gas in the car, your check engine light may come on.
A radar sensor is installed on the car`s front grille, which can sense how close or far away the vehicle in front is. By sensing this distance, the car will “adapt” its cruise control speed to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.
Sometimes, the check engine light comes on to let you know that there`s a problem with the car`s internal diagnostic mechanism. That means the system could be “finding” a problem that doesn`t exist, or it could be that loose wire systems are creating a false positive in the system.
The most common reasons a Honda Accord cruise control isn`t working are failed control module, sensor or switch issues, or throttle actuation problems.
In order to reset Honda`s ACC system, simply press and hold down the interval button (vehicle with four bars behind it) for approximately one second and Cruise Mode Selected will appear in the instrument panel. Press and hold the interval button again to reset the Adaptive Cruise Control feature.
If any of the ABS sensors are faulty (there is normally one on each wheel), the cruise control system will not activate.
You can easily find out where your cruise control fuse is and what it`s called in your owner`s manual. But most often, you`ll find the cruise control fuse box under the dashboard on the driver`s side.
Which of the following is an example of a failure in a car cruise control system? The system stops maintaining a set speed when the radio volume is incresed or decreased.
A bad battery can cause problems in electrical and electronic parts, including the computer. It can even cause a “Check Engine” light.
A weak battery that may appear to have a good state of charge and crank the engine, but it can cause issues with the vehicle`s networks including codes for loss of communication.
Such systems are made up of a cable connecting the throttle to a part called the vacuum actuator, which adjusts the cable based on the cruise control setting. A vacuum leak is a common problem on such systems, but damage to either of these components can cause the cruise control to stop working.
The national average cost for a cruise control module replacement in 2023 is $3107.
If the oil level is very low, to the point where the engine overheats however, yes. Excessive heat can cause a camshaft position sensor to fail. More likely in a “low oil level” situation is for the camshaft, lifters, or camshaft variable timing actuator to fail due to inadequate oil pressure and lubrication.
The most common symptom associated with a bad or failing crankshaft position sensor is difficulty starting the vehicle. The crankshaft position sensor monitors the position and speed of the crankshaft and other parameters that play an important role when starting the engine.
Bad Sensors

One common culprit for this problem is the crankshaft position sensor, which measures the position and speed of the crankshaft. The computer uses the information from this sensor to know when to fire the spark plugs. If the sensor isn`t working, the spark plugs won`t fire, keeping the engine from starting.

Abs light, emergency brake light, steering wheel assist light, engine light, EPC light, traction control light
ANSWER : Hello, thank you for writing in. The vehicle does utilize a lot of the same sensors for these systems. Are there any other codes that are coming up when this code appears? If so you will want to take these into consideration when processing the repair and making a diagnosis. The module may be bad, and replacing it should fix the problem. The lights should turn off once the main computer recognizes the new module and the sensors sync up. If you believe the sensors need to be cleaned you may do so. Do as minimal as possible to make sure you are not damaging the sensor or disrupting the wiring inside. A bad connection would make the lights stay on. With so many lights that are effected by the module being illuminated, the module is likely bad or does not have a connection. Check the connection first and then resort to replacing the unit. My check engine light and traction control lights are on and the cruise control light is flashing on and off.
ANSWER : Hi There,
What you are describing is common for a vehicle with traction control when it has been activated in a situation as you have described. The cruise control is also controlled in some cases by the traction control system and may be flashing as a need to have it reset due to the traction control being activated under those circumstances. The traction control system monitors the steering stability of the vehicle and engages when loss of traction has been detected. This is done by the use of electronic sensors at each of the four wheels that communicate with the Power Train Control Module (PCM) regarding steering performance and stability in adverse weather conditions. The traction control system works by reducing engine speed and determining which wheel to apply brake pressure to in order to prevent the vehicle from sliding. The anti-lock braking system and the traction control system work together to maintain the stability of the vehicle. The computer uses this information received from electronic sensors regarding the rotational speed of each wheel, the horizontal motion of the vehicle, and the vertical motion of the vehicle to determine how to direct the traction control system or the anti-lock braking system to best control the vehicle when needed. In some cases, the traction control system may simply need to be reprogrammed. I would recommend having a professional from YourMechanic come to your location to properly diagnose your traction control system.

on starting engine light & throttle control and traction control light comes on and car idols hard no codes when scanned
ANSWER : Hello, and thank you for writing in. Unfortunately the first technician is correct in that this can be cause by a wide variety of issues. Considering that it is intermittent, we can assume that there is either an electrical issue (sensor or bad connection), or that there is a particular part which is dirty or failing. There are a couple of ways you can approach this. One being that you attempt to clean, repair, and replace the many number of components that can cause this. A second being that you attempt to replicate the issue by unplugging sensors and trying various tests to try and narrow down what system is being effected. When dealing with a misfiring situation, you need to look into the air intake, ignition (spark), and the fuel systems first. One last consideration is to have the vehicle scanned by another type of code reader. They vary in brand, manufacture compatibility, and software. For more diagnostic help, contact our service department to schedule an appointment, or to obtain a quote once the issue is diagnosed.

Check engine light refuses to go off after engine replaced
ANSWER : Hello there, you have a long series of issues going on with your 2013 Hyundai Sonata. If you keep getting a repeating oil light on than there is likely a fault in that system.

Since this fault has lasted after the engine was replaced it could be a oil pressure sensor, wiring harness fault, ECU fault, oil pump, oil strainer clogged, or low oil pressure.

To diagnose this issue properly you need a complete vehicle inspection to start from square one and identify the root cause of all this.

The VSA (!) light is on, engine light flashing, and it feels like the motor or car is shaking.
ANSWER : Hello, thank you for writing in. The VSA (vehicle stability control) warning light is telling you there is an issue detected with the system. The vehicle should be driven as minimally as possible. The issue may be directly related to the VSA system, or it may be related to one of the input sensors. The easiest way to help determine the problem is to scan the vehicle for diagnostic codes. They will point you in the right direction. Your owner’s manual will also have more information about the system. For more diagnostic help, contact our service department.
