The oil weight should be 0w20 and the oil is not specific to any brand or type. I personally would recommend a synthetic blend or full synthetic oil.

Note: Automatic transmissions that require MERCON LV transmission fluid should only use MERCON LV transmission fluid. The use of any other fluid may cause transmission damage.
2010 Ford F-150 Oil Type and Capacity Info

From 2000 to 2010, the manufacturer recommended using 5W-20 full synthetic oil in the 4.6L and 5.4L V8 engines. If you want to use the stuff Ford used from the factory, Motorcraft SAE 5W-20 Premium Synthetic Blend is the engine oil to choose.

How much transmission fluid do I need for my car? A typical fluid change can require anywhere from 2.5 to 5.5 litres (3 to 6 US quarts) of automatic transmission fluid, depending on the make and model of the vehicle. Some may require far more.
Most car engines are designed to handle 5w20 oil because this type of oil flows well when the engine reaches its operating temperature of 212 degrees. If 5w30 oil is used, the engine will encounter much more resistance at this stage which is not good for it.
5W20 oil is primarily a winter viscosity grade oil. The number before the `W` represents the oil viscosity at 0°F. The lower this number, the better it will perform at cold temperatures. 5W is a low viscosity rating, providing better engine performance and lubrication during winter.
The 5W-20 will remain a little thinner at operating temperature, as indicated by its lower “20” number, while 5W-30 will provide a slightly thicker lubricating film. When looking at 5W-30 vs 10W-30, they both provide the same viscosity at operating temperature, as indicated by their identical “30” ratings.

“All transmissions which recommended using MERCON ATF can now be serviced with MERCON V,” said Ron Romano, FCSD Service Lubricants Technical Expert. “MERCON V is a tighter specification which delivers better anti-oxidation, anti-wear and anti-shudder properties.

I need to know the recommended engine oil.
ANSWER : The oil weight should be 0w20 and the oil is not specific to any brand or type. I personally would recommend a synthetic blend or full synthetic oil.

lost all oil pressure, replaced the oil pump, low oil sensor, oil pressure sensor, oil pan gasket,
ANSWER : The fuel pump will not stay on if you loose oil pressure. This is why it is shutting off. The loss of oil pressure may be from bad crankshaft bearings or camshaft bearings. The engine oil pan should be removed and the oil pump needs to be checked to ensure that you put in the pick up tube seal to the pump and connected the pump to the block. Then remove at least one main bearing cap and inspect the bearings for excessive wear and crankshaft damage. If you need some help with this, consider YourMechanic, as a certified technician can help diagnose the issue with your oil pressure firsthand and help you fix it accordingly.

Engine light is lit up on dash and in message area it says oil….. so I know it’s oil related do I just need to add oil maybe
ANSWER : When the oil light comes on, this usually means the engine is low on oil. This may also mean other things such as too high or low of oil pressure as well.

I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your home to service the oil in your Jeep. During this service they will reset the oil light and address any other issues.

Engine swap details needed. I need to know if the swap will fit.
ANSWER : Hi there. When it comes to swapping engines for your vehicle, what you can do is check all of the engine mounts and transmission mounts and make sure that they will work. If the mounts are a little off but there is room, then you may have to retro fit a custom mount. Check the length of the engine and the transmission assembly together. Make sure that the assembly is the same length. It may be okay if it’s a few inches shorter or longer, however, it cannot exceed 3 inches or the assembly will not fit. There has to be room for the engine to move around. Also, keep in mind, the CV shafts may not match up to the transmission and wheel hubs, especially if the transmission is shorter or longer. If you need further assistance with swapping your engine with another engine, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

Check engine light refuses to go off after engine replaced
ANSWER : Hello there, you have a long series of issues going on with your 2013 Hyundai Sonata. If you keep getting a repeating oil light on than there is likely a fault in that system.

Since this fault has lasted after the engine was replaced it could be a oil pressure sensor, wiring harness fault, ECU fault, oil pump, oil strainer clogged, or low oil pressure.

To diagnose this issue properly you need a complete vehicle inspection to start from square one and identify the root cause of all this.

The engine klunking and tapping, needs engine replacemet
ANSWER : The reason the shops told you to replace the engine is that they do not overhaul engines. They can only replace it for you with a remanufactured or used engine. An overhaul is a third option but would most likely not be as cost effective and may even cost you more since the labor and parts can be more than replacing it. Since you already had two shops say it needs an engine, then I would suggest having them both give you quotes on remanufactured or used one. Make sure to get the warranty in writing so you can see if a future failure is covered.

Just noticed a huge oil leak trailing my car. It seems to be coming from below the engine. I recently had my oil changed a month
ANSWER : You might have a problem with the oil filter leaking when you rev the engine and increase the oil pressure. This can be from a collapsed oil filter media or excessive oil pressure from the engine. I recommend having the oil and filter replaced using a good quality filter and have the oil leak verified to be from the filter. Make sure to not run the engine low on oil. If you are finding you do not want to drive with the leak, a mobile technician from YourMechanic can come to your home or office, and replace both your filter, and oil.

Burning engine oil and have gray smoke coming from below the engine and the tailpipe.
ANSWER : Hi there. If you are getting gray smoke from under the vehicle and in the engine compartment, then there is an external oil leak. The oil is leaking onto the exhaust pipe and then burning off. This is why you are not seeing any oil on the ground. As for the engine smoking some oil, then the valve guide seals on the cylinder heads are possibly leaking causing oil to enter the combustion chamber through the intake valves.. Another way that the engine could be getting oil into the combustion is having a positive crankcase ventilation valve (PCV valve) being stuck causing oil to enter the intake system. To check this, check the intake tubing and see if there is any oil present. If there is oil present, then I recommend replacing the PCV valve to prevent any oil from going into the combustion chamber. The external oil leaks could be, a leaking front engine seal, a leaking rear main seal, a loose oil filter, oil cooler lines could be split or loose, or a valve cover gasket could be leaking. If you need further assistance with your engine using a lot of engine oil, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.
