My RPassenger window did not work. I had it fixed. shortly thereafter neither of my rear windows would work from the
front rear window buttons or the back window buttons. The front lock button does have the light go on and off but still I cannot get the windows to work at all. Seems fishy to me that it would be both motors at the same time. Do you have any idea what it might be?
Hi there. Usually when both window switches do not work it is due to an electrical fault with the primary control module. There is a center module that relays all electricity from switches to individual window drive motors to open and close. When more than one switch doesn’t appear to be working, it typically due to an issue with that center window control module or electrical relay powering the system. It would be a good idea to have a professional mechanic come to your location and complete a window not working inspection to determine precisely what is causing this issue before attempting any further repairs.
How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?
Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced mechanics :
If all your Mercedes-Benz windows have stopped working, first check for a blown fuse. If your Mercedes-Benz doesn`t have fuses for the window, check fuses for the door module. Also, check the master switch in the driver`s door. If the master switch is defective, it can prevent all windows from working.
If your power windows are not working on the driver or passenger side, the causes of the window not working could be the fuse, wires, switch, or the power window motor.
If your car window will go down but not up, then the problem is likely a bad window switch. Identifying a malfunctioning window switch is sort of the opposite of diagnosing a bad window motor.
Press and hold the window switch in a closed position. Keep the button depressed and push the side that closes the window. Open and slam the car door while the window button is depressed. Try it a few times until the window opens.
If you can log in, press Windows + R and type cmd. Then press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to launch Command Prompt as administrator cmd. Type systemreset -factoryreset on the Command Prompt and press Enter. You`ll get a choice to keep your files or remove everything.
Reset your PC from the sign-in screen. If you can`t open Settings, you can reset your PC from the sign-in screen. Here`s how: Press Windows logo key + L to get to the sign-in screen, and then restart your PC by pressing the Shift key while you select the Power button > Restart in the lower-right corner of the screen.
An electric window circuit
The switch is wired to the battery via a relay and a fuse or a circuit breaker. Although they can be a real convenience (no more leaning over the passenger seat to open or close the window) they can also be a considerable annoyance when they stop working.
Locate and check the fuse for the problematic window motor. If it`s blown, replace the fuse. A blown fuse can indicate increased power draw due to a binding or worn mechanical component, so you should continue with then mechanical repair process once you replace the fuse.
Testing at night with your engine off, but ignition and headlights on will be your best option. Depress the power window switch and if you see a slight dimming of your headlights or your dome or dash lights, you are getting an electrical connection to the switch and it is sending that power to the motor.
You might be able to put your power window up manually by pressing your palms together on both sides of the window and slowly moving it up. If your power window motor is still somewhat operational, it might help to have someone press the window switch to the “close” position while you`re doing this.
Hold the key down for 2-5 seconds after the window is down.
Once your window is all the way down, hold the button down for 2-5 seconds. Release the button after you`ve held it down for a short period of time. On some vehicles, the required time to reset the window is 2 seconds. On others, it is 5 seconds.
If all windows stopped working at once, a loss of power to the system is likely. Many systems use a single relay and power supply for all windows. When all windows quit working simultaneously, first check for a blown fuse or bad relay.
Simply add the alcohol and water into the spray bottle and shake. Then, spray the solution on the frozen window close to the bottom. The ice that`s freezing your window shut will slowly melt, including any ice inside your door.
This reset option will reinstall Windows operating system and keeps your personal files, such as photos, music, videos or personal files. However, it will remove apps and drivers you installed, and also removes the changes you made to the settings.
The resetting process removes the applications and files installed on the system, then reinstalls Windows and any applications that were originally installed by your PC`s manufacturer, including trial programs and utilities.
Expect to pay as little as $20 if you`re just replacing a blown fuse. Swapping out a window switch will usually run $150-$250. Replacing a window motor will likely cost $300-$400.
Press and hold the window switch in a closed position. Keep the button depressed and push the side that closes the window. Open and slam the car door while the window button is depressed. Try it a few times until the window opens.
The system usually consists of a two-way control switch wired by two circuits to a motor in each door. One switch position and circuit drive the motor one way to wind the window up; the other switch position and circuit wind the window down. The switch is wired to the battery the vehicles electrical system.
