My car has 36000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Hi there. It depends on what’s causing the issue with the vehicle. If the valve itself is damaged, you should be able to just replace the valve. However, in most cases, problems with hybrid fuel tanks are caused by the canister itself. You might want to call Ford directly and get some input on this since it’s a Hybrid.

Ford is recalling 411,205 cars in the U.S. for fuel tanks that can crack, the company said Monday. The 2010-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan have faulty canister purge valves, which allow excess gas vapors from the tank to recirculate back into the engine.
Where is the fuel filter located on my Mercury? The fuel filter is always going to be found between the fuel tank and the engine.
The fuel filter is located b,etween the fuel tank and the engine. With that being said, the filter will be on the same side of the vehicle as the gas tank, usually right behind one of the front wheels. If you look under the vehicle, you will see the fuel lines running along the frame or body of the car.

There are basically two ways your car`s fuel tank could become damaged: from physical damage to the vehicle`s undercarriage, or by putting something in the tank that shouldn`t go! We probably don`t have to tell you that putting water, diesel or sugar in your gas tank is likely to cause problems.
For metal fuel tanks, the minimum that manufacturers aim for is 10 years of use. Now there will be some variance in how long each material might last individually, either coated steel or aluminum, but unless there is some external damage done to the tank then it will last at least a decade.
If the fuel filter isn`t listed as a maintenance item, it might be that the filter is integrated with the fuel pump inside or on the fuel tank. To replace it, you have to replace the whole setup. The filter is supposed to catch and remove any contaminants and impurities from the fuel line that could damage the engine.
The fuel filter will be located either inside the fuel tank or fitted into the fuel line between the tank and the fuel pump. Some fuel tanks have internal, non-serviceable fuel filters.
The fuel filter is located between the fuel tank and the fuel pump, and removes impurities that prevent your car from running smoothly — a clogged filter can lead to a “coughing” engine, and even a complete shutdown.
Most cars have an in-tank pump mounted within the fuel tank, although some have an inline pump located between the gas tank and the engine.
Featuring the best aspects of economy and power, the 2006-2007 Mercury Milan is the best used Mercury to buy.
Most cars have an in-tank pump mounted within the fuel tank, although some have an inline pump located between the gas tank and the engine.
Most hybrid vehicle manufacturers say that, on average, a hybrid battery pack will last from 80,000 to 100,000 miles.
Battery packs are usually guaranteed by the car manufacturer for eight years or 160,000km – whichever comes first – and during that period of time, hybrid drivers will start to notice a decline in the battery pack`s ability to hold a charge.
However, as a rule of thumb, a small city hatchback should be able to achieve an average fuel consumption of around six to seven litres per 100km, a mid-sized SUV will be closer to eight or nine litres per 100km and a full-sized family SUV will use closer to 10 litres per 100km in the real world.
Most cars have an in-tank pump mounted within the fuel tank, although some have an inline pump located between the gas tank and the engine.
You`ll typically find the fuel pump located in the fuel tank. If your car has GDI, there will also be a high-pressure fuel pump located near the fuel rail in the engine compartment. You`ll typically find the fuel pump located in the fuel tank.

I have a 1981 e-350 with dual fuel tanks the p.o. added a third tank and 3 electric fuel pumps along with sepparate gauges and swi
ANSWER : The switch you are referring to is vended with the required electrical and fuel schematic (I just looked in the box) that answers your installation question. If you want an advance view, here is a link as well. Yes, you need a return line and just refer to the aforementioned link. If you are retrofitting back to OEM, I strongly encourage you to buy the original Factory Service Manual (FSM). There are lots of details attending this system and obviously it is difficult to recount it all here. The FSM will make your life much easier and you can then make sure your installation is perfect. Alternatively, YourMechanic can dispatch a certified mechanic and perform the whole retrofit and check out if you desire. Just request and schedule a generic service such as fuel pump service and the mechanic will come to your location and estimate the parts and labor required. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.

WHERE IS THE VAPOR CANISTER VENT VALVE ON 2012 CHEVROLET CAPTIVA V6? IS IT ON THE CANISTER? ALSO WHERE IS THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR
ANSWER : Hi there. The purge solenoid valve is typically located on the passenger side of the vehicle, under the hood and attached to the firewall. In order to locate yours and to review the correct removal and installation procedures, I would highly recommend purchasing a service and repair manual for your 2012 Chevrolet Captiva Sport, or have one of our professional mobile mechanics complete your EVAP purge solenoid replacement.

1996 F150 4.9 5 speed. Frt. Fuel pump quit working. Put fuel in rear tank and it sucked the fuel to the frt tank.
ANSWER : The two tanks are designed to work together and so BOTH pumps must be functioning and, as well, the related fuel system supply code, the Code P0232 that has set has to be resolved. P0232 means that the fuel pump relay is stuck on, keeping power supplied to the fuel pump even after the ignition has been turned off although another possibility is the fuel pump secondary power circuit has a short to battery voltage. The factory service manual (FSM) specifies a very lengthy diagnostic (because you have separate tanks). If you do not have the FSM, your best bet is to request a fuel pump diagnostic – dual tanks and let a certified mechanic get to the bottom of this. With regard to the other code, P0704, that code will set if the clutch switch is defective, there is worn clutch pedal lever or clutch lever bushing, shorted or open wiring and/or connectors in the clutch switch circuit, a blown fuse or burnt fusible link and/or, rarely, a faulty PCM or programming error. If you request the pump diagnostic the responding certified mechanic will get this taken care of for you. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.

Fuel pressure
ANSWER : Hello,
You may want to try checking the fuel pump relay. The relay wires should have ground on two wires, power on one wire and switched power on another wire. To activate the fuel pump your ECU actually connects one of the ground wires to complete the circuit and send power to the fuel pump. If the wires all have power running through them, then it is likely you have a faulty relay. The wire coming from the fuel pump is the other ground wire. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose your wiring as this can be very difficult and time consuming without the proper wiring diagram.

Hi. i have a 2000 kia sportage 4WD and it looks like the fuel pump needs to be replaced. Is it necessary to drop the fuel tank in order to replace the fuel pump?
ANSWER : Hi there. The fuel pump could be changed by using a special tool behind the seats in your vehicle. You will have to remove the carpet behind the rear seats and you will have access to the fuel pump. I suggest getting a plastic garbage bag and place it all around the fuel pump area to prevent any fuel from getting in the vehicle. If you are unable to gain access to the fuel pump from inside the vehicle cab, then you will have to drop the fuel tank. If you need further assistance with replacing the fuel pump, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

Can 1 man replace a fuel pump and sending unit, clean out sludge and particles from fuel tank in about 1 hour? Think I was scammed
ANSWER : To drop the fuel tank on your model, and immediately re-install the tank (without any cleaning or service) would require about 2 to 3 hours in total for an experienced professional if a lift is available. The fuel pump itself can be installed without removing the tank but to do that you must have access to the inside of the car because the pump is removed through an access panel under the rear seat. Also, you can’t drop the tank without access to the inside of the car because to drop the tank the wiring harness has to be disconnected and that connection is only accessible from inside the car. So, if the car was locked, obviously no work was performed on the vehicle. YourMechanic does offer these services and you can start by requesting fuel pump replacement. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.

Just had cluster replaced on a 2005 Ford freestyle. Filled up tank and a day later was driving car fuel tank light came on
ANSWER : Hi there. The only mechanical item that might cause the fuel gauge to act this way would be some malfunction within the EVAP vent solenoid system. However, if this occurred right after replacing the instrument cluster, it’s more likely due to an electrical fault that occurred during the installation. I would contact the company or mechanic that completed the instrument cluster installation to ask them if they can take a look at this issue, as it is likely an installation fault and not mechanical.
