Is the motor and transmission of a 1995 ford Explorer compatible, will it fit in to a 2000 ford explore sport
Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Hi there. If the engine size is similar and the transmission is identical (meaning an automatic w/automatic), then the motor mounts for the two vehicles should align. I would highly recommend consulting with a local engine replacement shop to confirm this, since it’s not a service we offer. There could be electrical / computer and sensor compatibility issues that should be verified before completing this service.

Will a ford escape 2002 transmission fit into a ford explorer 2002? (Not 4×4)
ANSWER : No, they are completely different. An Escape is a front wheel drive platform, an Explorer is a rear wheel drive platform. There are two options for a front wheel drive Escape. If your production date is before 11/18/01, and 11/19/01 and after for the 2002 model year. The only other compatible vehicle is the Mazda Tribute. A great resource I use is Car-Part.com. It has interchange information built in, and only displays parts that will work.

2003 lincoln navigator motor 5.4 does fit in a 2003 ford expedition 4.6?
ANSWER : The hardware and software of the computer (powertrain control module) and transmission control module (TCM) in the Expedition will only work with your present 4.6 L engine. If you change the stock engine to one that is not a catalog interchange for the car (the Lincoln 5.4 L engine does not interchange and is not even the same engine as the optional 5.4 L that was offered as an option on the Expedition) you will have to carry over the "new" engine’s computer, TCM and complete vehicle wiring harness in order to get the new engine to even start, let alone run. Adding to the complexity, if you install a larger engine, that typically increases the weight in the front of the vehicle which means that you will have to re-design the suspension of the vehicle. Unfortunately, with modern cars, there is no practical possibility for using non interchange engines unless your intent is to completely re-design the vehicle. If your engine has failed, and thus you simply need a replacement used engine, please note that you will easily find many direct drop in interchanges using on-line used parts databases such as Car-Part.com. Finally, if you are interested in an engine replacement (OEM to OEM), YourMechanic professionals in certain locales can assist with that. Please simply inquire based on your locale. Motor blown it had 2.5 motor What year motor will fit? 2000 Subaru Forrester
ANSWER : Hi there – the single overhead cam, non-turbo 2.5l engine in your Forrester was produced from 1999 until present day, and should swap with minimal differences. Be sure to include the engine electronics from the "newer" engine for increased compatibility. I would consult with a reputable Subaru independent service center who likely does engine swaps and upgrades like this, and Subaru forums on the Internet, for subtle details on this swap. Good luck!

Car has CVT transmission, can’t afford to replace, can I just replace the entire motor with a used one with different trans?
ANSWER : Hello. If you wanted to replace the motor and transmission, you would have other problems like the wire harnesses and ECM modules among other problems to do the swap correctly. You may be better off replacing the transmission with a remanufactured one. A job like this would be expensive either way, so you may also want to consider whether you want to invest more money in this car or whether you should start looking at other options.

2013 Ford Focus Transmission Issue. Is it worth keeping the car?
ANSWER : Hi There,
This is a known issue in this generation Ford Focus and some Fiestas with the "Power Shift" transmission and there have been numerous recalls and lawsuits. Although, it is would be difficult to determine how much longer your transmission will last given the fact that you have many new parts, I would not recommend junking the car as it may still provide some valuable life left for you. I would recommend taking it to the dealer to see if these parts may be covered under the recall.

I’m removing the motor but the input shaft is still in the motor instead of staying in the transmission what do I do?
ANSWER : Hi there. The input shaft is stuck in the pilot bearing on the engine or the back of the crankshaft. If the input shaft came completely off, then you will have to use a slide hammer to remove the input shaft from the engine and then reinstall it into the transmission. If the input shaft is attached to the transmission but the transmission will not come off the engine, then you will have to remove the bolts to the clutch with the transmission mounted and then the engine could be removed. This would be that the input shaft would be stuck in the clutch. You may have to use a torch to heat up the input shaft to remove the clutch from it. If you need further assistance with your transmission input shaft being stuck in the back of the engine, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.
