My car makes a squealing noise for the first mile I drive it after every time I start the engine. I suspect it’s break related

I have been noticing the brakes squeaking from time to time but recently as Friday every time I start the car and drive for the first mile I have been hearing this loud metal on metal squealing noise that sounds like it's coming from the back right. At times it comes back for a moment or two than goes away, but almost always for the first mile or so when I start the car again. I just had my oil changed and they would have told me if it was a belt issue so I think it may be something to do with the caliper or bearings in the back right wheel. All in all I think it's time to at least rep

Hi there. A metal to metal sound coming from the rear of the vehicle is often caused by either the brake pads being worn out or a wheel bearing that is failing. It’s probably a good idea to have a professional mobile mechanic come to your location and complete a car is making a noise inspection to verify the source of this noise, so the right repairs will be made.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced mechanics :

Common reasons for this to happen:

Failing Water Pump Pulley: The most common cause of squealing or squeaking from the timing belt cover is the water pump pulley. If the bearings in the pulley are beginning to fail, they will make noise.

Although there are a few causes of a squealing engine, one of the most common is a bad or failing serpentine belt. The serpentine belt – or drive belt, as its also known – plays a vital role in the engine. The belt drives many of the engine`s accessories, including the alternator and power steering pump.
A squeaking noise coming from your car`s suspension could signal a significant problem. The suspension system absorbs the shocks and vibrations from bumps, potholes and other defects on the road. It normally provides a smooth ride, but a squealing noise could indicate wear and tear in the springs or shock absorbers.
If your car squeals during acceleration or deceleration, it`s probably a belt. Just like humans, the age of your car plays a large role in the noises it makes. Typically, belts that have not broken might be well worn and in need of replacement – and this becomes apparent during acceleration.
The most common causes of brake squealing are worn brake pads, dust or debris between the pads and rotors, overnight moisture, your personal braking style, metallic brake pads, and lack of lubrication on drum brakes.
If your tires are low, the sidewalls flex too much and cannot generate enough traction to turn the car smoothly. Instead, the rubber will slide sideways more, causing a squeal. (Keeping tires filled at the proper pressure will also extend their tread life.)
If you hear a whining noise from your car`s engine, it may mean much the same thing: there`s a component that`s worn out. If these parts break or wear down entirely, they could cause damage, so hearing a whining sound means that it`s time to schedule a service appointment.
When your brakes squeal continuously as you drive along the road, but the squealing stops when you press the brake pedal, the most likely cause is the brake wear indicator touching the rotor`s surface.

My car will not start Intermittently. I purchased a new battery 2 weeks ago and yesterday the car wouldn’t start. Got a jump and
ANSWER : The issue you are having is probably due to an intermittent fault in the starter motor itself or a deficiency in the starter electrical circuit, for example a large voltage drop due to a poor ground or a high resistance connection. These issues can be readily diagnosed and resolved on a mobile basis if you request a hard starting diagnostic. If you request that diagnostic, the responding certified mechanic will get this resolved for you promptly. Based on Toyota’s Factory Service Manual, the battery should not be disconnected if the vehicle engine is running. The battery acts as a large resistive voltage sink and consequently taking the battery out of the circuit, while the alternator is still running, can create a voltage spike on the car’s electrical system which is not good for voltage sensitive components such as the engine computer. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.

Can front wheel drive car engine power rear wheel drive
ANSWER : Anything is possible with enough engineering. The changes you are looking at would take major structural changes and would definitely not be an easy job. You could possibly consult a manufacturing engineer to get more details on how this could actually be carried out and whether it would be feasible.

Car not speeding up smoothly, service engine light on when first start driving and car vibrating
ANSWER : Hi There,
It sounds like you may have a dirty or faulty mass air flow sensor. The problem this can cause may also be compounded when the engine is cold due to the change in air density in cooler weather. The mass air flow sensor monitors air intake as it is mixed with fuel prior to being injected into the motor. This sensor relays information about fuel and air temperature, air speed entering the motor and many other things to the ECM which uses this to make adjustments to fuel supply to the motor. A dirty or faulty sensor can cause an imbalanced air/fuel load to be supplied to the motor which results in an over fueling or under fueling situation depending on the conditions. This type of inconsistent fuel supply to the motor may cause a hesitation, loss of power, a jerking reaction, potentially a bit of black exhaust smoke and typically a strong smell of fuel when this sensor is malfunctioning. I would suggest having a professional from Your Mechanic come to your home to diagnose and inspect your vehicle.

Noise when car starts and side noise brake
ANSWER : This is a common question among many Honda owners and is a valid question. This sound is usually due to the brake pads floating inside the brake calipers. I have seen numerous questions about this and had the same question myself when this design first came out. This design was intended to combat the oxidation or rust of calipers and caliper brackets which causes them to expand and create additional pressure on the pads themselves. When this happens, this can cause premature brake pad wear and breakdown of the brake pad lube (usually what is called Molykote) which then causes additional heat.

When this happens, depending on the amount of heat present, this can cause the caliper pins to freeze up causing the calipers to stick. This can cause excessive brake wear and damage. The intention of this design is purely preventative in nature and is generally not something that requires attention, however you may want to consult a professional from YourMechanic to have them come to you location to perform an inspection of your brakes to be sure this is actually the case and that they are not in need of further repair.

Whenever I drive 1.5 miles, the s3 light starts blinking and then when I stop my car and come back to it, the car won’t start.
ANSWER : Hello, thank you for writing in. It is difficult to determine the issue without some more information. To start, when the check engine light illuminates, you want to scan the vehicle for diagnostic codes. These are what set the check engine light off, and are meant to tell the driver what the computer has detected is wrong. Codes can be pulled at most automotive parts stores, and by most technicians. Once you have that information you can focus in on one component or system. If the engine is truly overheating, then you want to start by checking your coolant and fluid levels. Car hesitates while accelerating, check engine light on all the time
ANSWER : The Check Engine Light going on and off is most likely caused by an engine misfire.

The intake manifold could be leaking vacuum when it is cold, and sealing up when the vehicle warms up. The engine running poorly can prevent the engine from getting up to operating temperature as fast as it should.

The Check Engine Light will have to be scanned to see which codes are stored in the computer’s memory. Once the code is diagnosed, then a repair can be identified.

When the car is about to just fully stop it makes a squeaking noise to what seems to be in the rear breaks
ANSWER : Hello. This is likely the result of the brake pads wearing down to the "wear mark" which a certain thickness on the brake pads designed to alert when it is times to consider replacing the brake pads. This is not emergency critical, however you should consider having the brakes changed very soon. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your home to replace the brake pads.
