Front windshield wipers do not work–washers still work, fuse is good 2010 Dodge Nitro

I have a 2010 Dodge Nitro Heat 4×4 with 3.7L…during the cold weather the front windshield wipers quit working halfway through their cycle. I was able to push them back down to their resting cycle with some difficulty. . I have checked the fuse and swapped it out with the same fuse to assure the fuse was good. The washer and rear wiper still work (even though they are on separate fuses). I hear no noise and do not smell anything. I have read that the 2007 models had a faulty electrical module (the TIPM??) but it seems to be related to wipers and lights coming on suddenly. I have also ta

Hi – the sudden nature of this failure would suggest a fuse or other electrical link, but you have checked the obvious. Further diagnosis is needed to determine which component in the electrical power chain has failed – switch, electrical wiring, or the wiper motor itself. I would suggest an electrical component failure by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, who will come to your location, diagnose this problem, give you an accurate assessment of damage and cost estimate for repairs.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

If your wiper motor runs but the wipers don`t move it`s most likely a mechanical problem, so you should start by examining the wiper assembly. This might be a disconnected wiper motor link arm, a jammed transmission, or locked gear.
Clear Clogged Windshield Washer Nozzles

Clear the clogged windshield washer nozzle with a pin, then use compressed air to blow the debris backward through the hose. If you hear the pump going but don`t get fluid, you probably have clogged windshield washer nozzles.

Before the wiper motor goes bad, you will probably experience a blown wiper fuse, which is intentional. The fuse is designed to be the circuits weak spot, which protects the wiper motor. Essentially, if your vehicle`s wiper motor is being overloaded, the fuse will blow to ensure the motor does not become damaged.
A fuse blows when there is too much electrical current. The fuse blows to protect the electrical components—this keeps you from needing serious repairs, but also makes it so your wipers won`t work.
Generally, the wiper control module is located under the dash, but it can be found in other places as well. If you have a hard time locating the module, consult the factory repair manual for the location.
The intermittent DC relay is used for controlling the windshield wiper`s operation.
There`s an electric motor solely dedicated to powering your windshield wipers. As an electrical appliance, this motor can short out which will cause your wipers to not move at all. The fuse in your motor can also blow which will cause the same outcome.
Power Distribution Modules (PDM) for vehicles or commercial equipment feature multiple electrical power outputs, acceptance of many fuses, fuse types & relays and allow for custom configuration.
A fuse blows when there is too much electrical current. The fuse blows to protect the electrical components—this keeps you from needing serious repairs, but also makes it so your wipers won`t work.
Installing a new windshield wiper motor will most often cost between $90 and $225 for the parts, although there can be more or less expensive options too. If you have a technician install it for you, expect to pay around an hour in labor charges.
A fuse blows when there is too much electrical current. The fuse blows to protect the electrical components—this keeps you from needing serious repairs, but also makes it so your wipers won`t work.
Most of the automatic wipers available these days make use of infrared sensors that are hidden behind the windshield of the car. When the rain starts pouring in, the infrared light that usually gets reflected back to the sensor gets interrupted and this lets the wipers know that it`s time for them to turn on.
The relay functions as a switch and energizes circuits as needed. In the case of your windshield wipers, it controls low, high, and intermittent speeds by energizing a particular circuit at a given moment depending on what speed you have your wiper switch set to.

Front windshield wipers do not work–washers still work, fuse is good 2010 Dodge Nitro
ANSWER : Hi – the sudden nature of this failure would suggest a fuse or other electrical link, but you have checked the obvious. Windshield wipers stopped working. They’ll suddenly stop working then suddenly start working again. Has been happening for a week.
ANSWER : The problem you are describing likely stems from an intermittent electrical fault in the wiper circuit. The windshield wiper system uses a small electric motor to move the wiper arms that you see on the windshield. That electric motor is controlled through a switch, relay, fuse, and wiring. One, or more, of those electrical components has failed although it is also possible that the mechanical arms are binding (seized, if the lubricant has dried out) thus causing the electric circuit to the motor to overload. Regardless of the underlying fault, if you request a non functioning wiper diagnostic/repair, the responding certified mechanic will get this taken care of for you. If you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to re-contact YourMechanic as we are always here to help you.

My dash board don’t work my front light work when I change my light into high beam and my back window won’t go down
ANSWER : As unfortunate as it is, your vehicle would be considered flood damaged. Diagnosing electrical problems in a flood damaged vehicle is nearly impossible. This would take many hours or even days to determine which wiring harnesses and circuits have been affected. Then nearly all of the wiring under the dash would likely require replacement as well as many sensors and switches. On a BMW vehicle, the amount of wires and switches are likely more than that of a lower end vehicle. Due to the inefficiency in cost, you would likely be able to purchase another BMW like yours for less than what it would cost to fix your car. Many insurance companies would consider this type of damage to total out the vehicle unfortuantely.

Air conditioning not working in the front of my SUV
ANSWER : My guess is that the refrigerant level is low (from a leak somewhere) or there is a problem with the AC pressure cut out switch. The control module will cut power to the AC compressor if it determines the system does not have the correct pressure due to a low refrigerant level.

Disconnecting the battery probably temporarily reset the control module. There may or may not be codes stored in the HVAC system to aid with diagnosis.

You should be able to wiggle the large fuse out with your bare hands or gently remove it with a pair of pliers.

Finally, I do not think any of this has to do with the oil change that was performed.

Passenger seat heater not working properly.
ANSWER : Hello and thank you for contacting YourMechanic. The book says that you can use a 15, 20, 25, or 30 amp fuse. The power to the heaters are operated through the wiring to the main harness. There could have been a wire tied into it to make the seat work on the same circuit as the driver seat. This is common to find in the vehicles.

You can try putting a 15 amp fuse in the slot and see if the seat works. Try to avoid using a high amp fuse for if there is a problem with the heater you don’t want to burn it. If nothing seems to work, then the heater in the seat has failed and needs replaced.

If you need further assistance troubleshooting your vehicle, then seek out a technician, such as one from Your Mechanic, that can assist you with a seat inspection at your home or office. Best of luck.

Why aren’t my windshield wipers working?
ANSWER : Hi there:

The windshield wiper system is comprised of several individual components that must all work together in order to keep your windshield clean and free of liquid or debris. In most cases, when the wipers themselves won’t work, it’s because the wiper motor or the wiper motor electrical relay is damaged and needs to be replaced. It could also be a fuse or some very simple electrical problem causing this to occur on your vehicle. To determine exactly what’s going on with your vehicle’ front wipers, please have one of our local mobile mechanics complete a windshield wipers are not working inspection.

Replaced wiper motor wipers still dont work. Checked fuse. Seems no electrial current
ANSWER : Hi there. Was supply voltage checked at the wiper motor, fuse, wiper switch? If there is no supply voltage at the fuse, then the problem could be in the fuse block or wiring harness. The fuse could have a crack in the link that is preventing voltage from transferring; check both sides of the fuse for voltage. If there is power on both sides, then check the same at the switch an see if it has voltage in and out. Again, a wiring harness or fuse block could be an underlying issue and will require the electrical wiring diagram and a digital volt/ohm meter to proper inspect. I suggest having a qualified technician perform an inspection to avoid replacing unnecessary parts. Your Mechanic has several available technicians that can assist you with a wipers do not work inspection.

my wipers don’t work i replaced the washer pump myself. Check for the blown fuse for the wipers and nope its not bown. Help please
ANSWER : Wipers not turning on can be due to a few components. If the fuse is good, the wiper relay may be at fault, not signaling the wiper motor to turn on. Also, the wiper switch could be faulty, not sending a signal to the relay. Even the wiper motor itself can be burned/shorted internally and not functioning.

Have a certified technician inspect the wiper system to isolate the exact cause.
