If when you put your vehicle into gear and it won`t move, this may be a problem with low transmission fluid due to a leak, the shifter, shifter cable, or it could even be a problem in the valve body of your automatic transmission.
From the cross-country four-wheel-drive configuration of the ladder frame up to the third generation + rear-wheel drive-based 4WD with an auxiliary transmission, it switched to a passenger car-based one and changed the route to a modern SUV at once.
With slightly less performance but amazing price this car in all is of good value due to its off road capabilities.
First generation (ET/TA; 1988) The Suzuki Escudo was first introduced in the Japanese domestic market in July 1988.
Transmission Range Sensor (TR)/ Transmission Position Sensor

The PCM uses this information to control which gears of the transmission to enable or disable. When the TR sensor fails it can cause wrong gear starts, no upshifts, or what feels like a falling-out-of-gear condition.

Turn off your vehicle`s ignition and wait patiently for 5 to 10 seconds. Start the engine and allow it to idle for several seconds. Switch off the ignition and wait patiently for another 30 to 40 seconds. Repeat these steps 2 to 3 times in order to reset your vehicle`s transmission control module.

Reliability Survey, Suzuki cars scored a near-perfect 97.1% on the reliability rating thanks to the top performance across its car range.
The fuel consumption of the Toyota Escudo 2010 is 7 liters per 100 kilometers with 66 liters fuel tank capacity. 7 liters consumption is considered to be pretty fine for the car of this size.
Under the hood, Suzuki installed a wide engine choice ranged between 125 hp and 185 hp, paired with a five-speed manual as standard. Depending on the engine option, a four or five-speed automatic transmission was available.
With a fuel consumption of 29 mpg US – 34.8 mpg UK – 8.1 L/100km, a weight of 2998 lbs (1360 kg), the Suzuki Escudo 2.0 has a water cooling 4 cycle 4 cylinder DOHC16 valve engine, a Regular gasoline engine J20A.

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) controls modern automotive transmissions based on input from various sensors as well as data provided by engine control module (ECM).
One of the most common issues is gear slippage. This occurs because the TCM is not giving the correct commands to shift, which can cause sudden shifting or not shifting at all. Another common symptom is failure to accelerate as usual. If your vehicle cannot change gears correctly, your car`s acceleration will suffer.
The most typical causes of a car not accelerating while driving include a faulty sensor, contaminated fuel or air filters, or a faulty timing belt. Generally, this isn`t something you should ignore.
A part of the Electronic Control Unit (ECU), the Transmission Control Unit covers everything related to the transmission of a vehicle. It ensures smooth gear shifts and optimal fuel economy and performance.
It`s also common that a problem with these sensors can impact the shift timing, extending the interval between transmission shifts. An automatic transmission is hydraulically controlled and designed to operate smooth.
Why does my car not accelerate when I push the gas? A car not accelerating properly can be caused by a number of things. It could be due to the throttle body, gas tank, spark plugs, or the ECU. It could also be because you have a dirty air filter or a clogged fuel filter.

My Suzuki Escudo engages gears when on 4WD mode but does not engage any gear on 2WD mode. What must be the problem?
ANSWER : Hi there. The synchronizer inside the transfer case has teeth that are ground down on the 2WD selection causing the transfer case not to engage into 2WD. I recommend seeking out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you diagnose your transfer case issue.

I shifted the lever to drive mode, but it goes to reverse mode. What is the problem?
ANSWER : You are very nearly right. There is a bowden type cable that connects the the shifter to the transmission. It has adjustable ends and one or more of those adjustments has probably worked loose. That or you might need a new shift cable or new bushings at the connections. Either way, you can have the problem conveniently solved by contacting Your Mechanic. They will send a technician to your home or office to check out your shifter and transmission and tell you exactly what you need to repair it. Meanwhile, be very careful with this car, it might not go into park when you expect it to so be sure to set the brake and park it very carefully.

Gear Shuffling Problem in Vauxhall Vectra 52 Registration
ANSWER : Hi there. We don’t see a lot of Vauxhall Vectra’s here in the United States, so unfortunately, we’re not able to suggest a possible solution or cause of this problem you’re experiencing. You should consult with a professional mechanic in your home town to determine what’s causing the shifting problem you’re experiencing.

My manual car won’t go into gear, it turns on and the clutch goes down perfectly fine. It happened after my gears grinded, the car
ANSWER : If the clutch mechanism is releasing properly, and the shift linkage is not malfunctioning, your transmission will have to be removed from the vehicle and inspected. Once a transmission has been removed from a vehicle, if the problem is a broken or worn part or parts, and the transmission has 100,000 miles or more, the most cost effective approach is to just simply rebuild the whole transmission. There are transmission rebuild kits that are sold just for this purpose. Rebuilding a transmission is no big deal and is indeed easier in many respects than rebuilding an engine. You can rebuild your transmission right in your own garage. You can NOT rebuild an engine in your own garage due to the highly specialized, and extremely costly, machine shop equipment required. Occasionally, mobile mechanics will take on a transmission rebuild job especially as once the mechanic removes the transmission from the vehicle, it is just simply a modular unit that can be easily transported to a mechanic’s shop and rebuilt right there and then returned to your vehicle. Took engine from 4wd 1998 jimmy put in 2wd 05 sierra. Problem is transmission not engaging. What do i need to do?
ANSWER : Make sure the fluid level is OK. Check the shift lever and be sure it is actually moving the manual valve to the commanded position (Drive for example). To determine if the converter is functioning and/or if you have a hydraulic pressure issue, you can attach gauges to the test port and read the pressures while in the various gears and see how the pressures compare to the Factory Service Manual specifications. If pressures are off, there’s your first clue but the fault could be anything from the pump to the valve body to individual hydraulic circuits and/or clutch pack pistons that might be leaking. If pressures are normal, suspect a broken band or other mechanical fault. If the transmission is electronically controlled, you also have to be sure that the shift solenoids are appropriately controlled. Not sure how you managed to deal with the ECM and TCM but if those were not carried over completely, of course that can account for all kinds of anomalies. If you desire, you can request a shift diagnostic and the responding certified mechanic can perform these diagnostic steps. My car gear does not engage to drive position.
ANSWER : Hi there:

Sometimes this issue is caused by a faulty shift solenoid attached to the transmission; while in other instances, it can be caused by low transmission fluid or other damage inside the transmission. The best thing to do is have a professional mechanic complete a car is hard to shift inspection, so they can determine what is causing this problem and recommend the right repairs.

Loose gearbox that won’t find 2nd or 5th gear, sometimes hard to differentiate between 1st and 3rd.
ANSWER : There are a couple of possibilities. The first thing that comes to mind is of course the shifter itself. There is a nylon ball and socket joint at the base of the gearshift lever that sometimes falls apart, making the feel of the shifter very vague. Additionally, there are links to the transmission shift linkage that involve nylon bushings and joints that can fall apart. Both problems are very common on your car. The other less common possibility is that you have a bad motor mount that is allowing the transmission to move around too much when you try to shift gears. either way, it’s not a big deal to fix, and probably won’t require expensive transmission work. If you contact Your Mechanic, they can send a technician to your home or office to check out you shifting issue and let you know what repairs it will take to correct it.

Switch to Manual mode, but gears don’t seem to change any more in that mode
ANSWER : This is an internal problem with the shift switch on the transmission selector. The transmission would need to be tested to see if it is a defective selector switch or a transmission valve body problem. The system would need to be tested since the system goes through the transmission control module, and sends signals on the computer network to the dash display. If the system is in failure mode, then it may not let you go into manual mode. Have your gear shifting issue checked just incase the transmission has an internal failure.
