Honda CR-V 2004 fan belt as I was driving the fan belt split in half then I just got it fix the car keeps getting over heating smo

The fan been replaced then I drove 120 to another the fan belt been split in half then the car keeps getting over heated and the fan belt breaks in halo again after I just got it fixed. My ac doesn't work ? What going on the car is smoking up

My car has 158000 miles.
My car's transmission is unknown to me.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
Hi there. Typically the fan, AC system and other components on your Honda is driven by the same belt, called a serpentine belt. When the belt brakes frequently, it’s typically due to the pulley’s that drive the belt being worn out, misaligned or not properly adjusted. Before you take your car to the same mechanic to attempt this repair again, I would highly recommend having one of our professional mechanics complete an inspection at your location to determine what needs to be fixed on your Honda.

How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Honda is recalling nearly 500,00 vehicles over a manufacturing issue with the front seat belts that could prevent them from latching, the company announced. Affected models include certain 2018-2019 Accord and Accord Hybrids, the 2017-2018 CR-V, 2018-2020 Odysseys, the 2019 Insight and 2019-2020 Acura RDXs.
Slipping can be the result of a loss of belt tension (or a weak automatic tensioner) or pulley misalignment. When the belt slips off the track, the friction between the belt and accessory drive pulleys causes the belt to overheat. If you hear a high pitched squealing noise, it`s probably time for a switch.
An engine that is hesitating to accelerate is most likely dealing with a fuel/air mixture that is too lean. Engine`s that are running inefficiently will begin to show signs like hesitation which will only become worse over time.
The 2004 Honda CR-V has a timing chain.
The drive belt/s on your Honda CR-V uses the engine revs to power the accessories in or on the engine of your vehicle. These may include your power steering, water pump air conditioning compressor and alternator. Most Honda CR-V`s have 1 or 2 drive belts and in some instances, it may be called a serpentine belt.
Some vehicles` water pumps, radiator fans, and power brakes are also dependent on the serpentine belt. If your serpentine belt wears out, becomes damaged or contaminated, or breaks, engine accessories will not be able to spin at the proper speed, leading to decreased power to the electrical system.
Being made of durable rubber, a serpentine belt can last anywhere from around 50,000-100,000 miles.
Misalignment is one of the main causes of timing belt drive failure. Excessive or uneven tooth wear, belt tracking and tensile failure can all be attributed to misalignment. By checking and aligning your shafts and timing pulleys you can increase the life of your timing belts and save yourself lots of downtime.
The most common reasons a Honda CR-V has rough idle are a vacuum leak, an issue with the spark plugs, or a problem with the ignition coil. Search our network of RepairPal Certified shops near you to speak with a technician about your issue. Oops!

Split belt cover

There`s a lot to be said about the damage that can be caused from forcing a belt onto a pulley or running your v-belts with the incorrect tension, as this is the most common cause for many types of belt damage, including cover splits.

Improper Tension of V-Belts

If a belt is not tensioned properly, it will ride too loose or too tight on the pulley. A belt that`s too loose on a pulley will cause slippage, which leads to heat build up from friction. This heat will damage your rubber belts and cause the belts to crack and break.

Alternator belt got torn whilst driving and had new belt fixed but the car won’t move on drive or reverse after few seconds drive
ANSWER : This is a sign of a faulty transmission control solenoid. Modern automatic transmissions use pressurized hydraulic fluid to change gears. Every time a gear change is required, the car’s computer activates a transmission solenoid, which directs transmission fluid into the valve body to engage the correct gear. When this is faulty or not working properly, this can cause a delay in gear shifting or in some cases cause the car to not shift at all. If you’d like, a certified technician from YourMechanic can come to your home or office to inspect your vehicle, and provide a definitive diagnosis for the shifting issue.

Car won’t drive after over heating on the highway
ANSWER : Hi there. Most of the time when you overheat this engine it will also cause the transmission to get too hot. When this occurs it can easily cause transmission failure. I would suspect this if the vehicle does not move at all. If it move but is severely lacking power then you either have some serious internal engine damage or a failure in the catalytic converter from the overheating. It sounds like it is the transmission though. I would recommend having a transmission specialist take a look at it.

95 Bluebird. Fixed the drive belt and want to know, can I use a drive belt from another Nissan car until the new one gets here?
ANSWER : Hi, thanks for your question. I’d be happy to help. As long as the belt is the same width and close to the same length you can use it.

Only get heat when i rev up my car or push the gas. Other tham that i only get cold air coming out.
ANSWER : You may have a clogged heater core that may be prohibiting the outer linings of the heater core to get hot. As you know, the heater core is a series of tubes that the coolant runs through that generates the heat from the warm coolant after circulating through the motor. These tubes can occasionally develop a buildup on the inner walls such that when the heater core is "flushed" this buildup on the inner walls of the lines remains and still allows the coolant to flow through the heater core. It is important to note that when the heater core is "flushed" it is possible to get good flow through the heater core while the inside walls of the heater core remain caked with buildup. As a result, the buildup on the inner walls prevents the temperature from rising to its capability due to the insulating effect of this buildup on the inner walls which will prevent the necessary heat transfer to properly heat the inside of the car. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose and replace your heater core.

hey i had a belt break while traveling on my 2004 honda pilot. It is the small belt and not the serpentine belt. The mechanic t
ANSWER : Hello. The smaller belt is known as your timing belt, and it works inside the engine to keep mechanical components aligned with each other during the compression cycle. The serpentine belt, which is the big belt, drives the alternator, water pump, AC compressor, and a couple of other components. If the small belt broke it is likely the timing belt. This will cause the car to stall, lights to illuminate, and can even cause serious damage to the engine. Typically replacing a timing belt is a lot more complicated and expensive than replacing a serpentine belt. You may want to receive a second opinion on the car before you go ahead with repairs.

Car will overheat if I don’t have the fan on. When fan is off it doesn’t come on to release heat from engine. So the fan is always on.
ANSWER : Check the wiring to the coolant temperature sensor and see if there is power to the sensor switch. If there is no power, then check the cooling fan relay and see if its clicking on. If there is no clicking motion, then remove the relay and check for power to the relay. If there is power to the relay, then the cooling fan relay needs replaced. If there is no power to the relay, then check the fuse. If the fuse is burned, replace the fuse. If the fuse is good, then check power from the fuse to the main circuit on the fuse box. If there is no power, then the fuse box needs replaced. If the fan comes on with the air conditioning system switch turned on, that is because the switch overrides the cooling switch to make the condenser cool down to make the air conditioning system work properly.

If you need further assistance with your cooling fans not coming on when the engine gets hot, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

Am I able to ask to keep the amount of money the insurance is going to pay to fix my totaled car to fix myself?
ANSWER : Hi there. In general, when the insurance company considers the vehicle a ’total loss’, they will send you the settlement amount, minus the deductible. However, every insurance company is different and unique in regards to their own regulations and policies. I would highly recommend calling your insurance company and clarify what they are willing to do to settle your claim.
