Aux button on my radio

I recently just bought my 2006 Ford Escape and it has an aux button on the radio, but when I press it it says there is no aux input. There isn't a hole for an aux cord or bluetooth, So can I add an aux input into the radio even though there's input in it or do I have to buy a new radio

My car has an automatic transmission.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
If the vehicle is equipped with an aux jack, it would be located in the center console bin, on the bottom towards the front. Later models have the jack located just in front of the shifter on the lower dash below the climate controls. If no aux jack is present, your local Ford dealer parts department may still be able to order an installation kit. If it is no longer available from Ford, a reputable stereo installation shop should be able to install one for you.

An aux-in (or, to use its unabridged title, auxiliary-in) socket is a 3.5mm jack into which you can wire any device that has a physical headphone connection. It allows you to play your own music in your car without the need for a Bluetooth compatible head unit or an FM radio transmitter.
On an 06 model the aux button was for an optional 6 or 10 disc CD changer usually mounted in the center console.
An auxiliary port (AUX) is a type of standard communications port on a device that accommodates audio signals for: Advertisements. MP3 players. Headphones and headsets.
If the vehicle is equipped with an aux jack, it would be located in the center console bin, on the bottom towards the front. Later models have the jack located just in front of the shifter on the lower dash below the climate controls.
When switched on, the auxiliary switches provide electrical battery power for a variety of personal or commercial uses. Switches 1 through 4 provide 25 amps. Switches 5 and 6 provide 40 amps. The relay box for the auxiliary switches is in the rear of the engine compartment, near the back wall.
There is no audio AUX input.
Ans: To use USB as an AUX in your car, you can connect your phone or music player to your car stereo using a USB cable. Simply plug one end of the USB cable into the USB port on your car stereo, and plug the other end into your phone or music player.
For most of our car stereos, the AUX is activated by pushing the `Source` button until `AUX` appears on the display and activating it by pushing down the cursor key.
Bluetooth adapters are an easy fix. Some plug into the 12-volt outlet and route the audio through an FM frequency on the radio. Others plug into the aux jack of your audio system. Others can be permanently installed with the same type of built-in Bluetooth available in a new car.
Simply put, the “headphone jack” is the port into which you plug your headphones. Sometimes, this is also called a phone jack, an audio jack, or AUX input.
The construction of the aux connector and the headphone jack is often the same: 3.5mm (1/8″) TRS. However, the “auxiliary connector” is universal for audio while the “headphone jack” is, by its name, suited for headphones. Headphone jacks also come in different sizes and wiring schemes.
Bluetooth is the wireless technology that allows wireless devices to connect to a host computer. Keyboards, mice, speakers, etc. can connect to a phone, tablet, or personal computer. The aux refers to the wired connection between two devices, often with the 3.5mm audio jack.

The Ford Upfitter Switches are optional instrument panel mount switches (Option Code 66S) that control passenger side mounted relays. These relays power four blunt cut wires that are taped on a harness near the relay pack that can be found beneath the instrument panel and to the left of the steering column.
Auxiliary Ports

The port can usually be found in the glove compartment or centre console of the vehicle. This feature requires the use of a cable with 3.5 mm jack plug, which should be attached to the connector in the glove compartment or centre console and to the headphone socket on the connected device.

AUXILIARY WIRE MODES FOR SURFACE ESC`S

Your ESC can be connected to an additional radio channel using the AUX wire (white signal wire) to adjust driving parameters on-the-fly. Enable this feature with Castle Link to dynamically reign in your vehicle`s power, enabling reversing, and more.

If your aux connection is broken and you don`t feel comfortable tackling the replacement job yourself, you will need to take your car to a mechanic or dealership to have it repaired. The cost of this repair will vary depending on the make and model of your car, but it is typically between $100 and $200.
As long as you have a radio, you`re good to go. This thing transmits to your radio. The auxiliary jack is optional. If you find that you want that feature, if you have a tape deck they make adapters that go from 3.5mm jack to tape.
Initially, they were not standard but rather a feature on aftermarket stereos but around 2009, they became a standard on almost all cars.
It is hidden away inside your glove box. So, to install an AUX cable in a 2007 Ford Focus, open the glove compartment and look on the top lefthand side for the input, which requires a 3.5-mm AUX cable. Simply plug one end of the cord into the input and the other end into your phone, iPod, or another device.
The USB-C port provides fast charging when the USB-C cable and compatible charger is plugged into the Vehicle Dock. Use the 3.5 mm Audio – Output to connect your phone to your vehicles receiver AUX port. It will automatically connect to the vehicle`s audio system. Play music, podcasts and more over your car`s stereo.

While driving, hit start/stop button, instead of radio button
ANSWER : Not that I can find. The Start/Stop button, and how long it must be held to turn the engine off in an emergency is a hot topic. Requiring the driver to hold this button down for 3 seconds could be an eternity in a burning fire scenario. Turning the engine off on the slightest touch may cause the vehicle to stop in traffic when you actually just intended to adjust the radio as you describe. You may want to get in touch with a local Lexus or Toyota representative so that you voice this displeasure.

I have a Subaru Impreza 2009 and the two charger ports do not work as aux and there is no aux cable input even though the radio aux.
ANSWER : Check the fuses with the auxiliary charging ports to see if they have burned. If the fuse is good, then there is an open or short within the wiring to the charging ports. The radio has an auxiliary wire attached to it to turn on the system. Check all of the wiring with a digital ohm meter to see if there is an open or a short that will cause the port to not operate properly. If you need further assistance with your charger ports not working, then seek out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you.

Radio won’t turn off whole car is one. No lights are working on the radio console. None of the buttons are functioning
ANSWER : Hello, thank you for writing in. While checking your fuses is never a bad idea, specially with this many miles, it is most likely an issue with the radio itself. You can try swapping out the deck for a different one (even a used one just for testing purposes) before investing in a new unit. Higher mileage vehicles tend to have these kinds of issues, and things must be replaced after that much use. Keep in mind radio security codes do have an effect on how the new radio will function, and you may want to seek help for these types of issues. Defrost button wont come on. Control power button doesnt work.
ANSWER : It seems like the defrost of the vehicle has an issue. There are several possibilities that could cause this. The control unit for the climate control system could be malfunctioning. The fuse for the rear defrost could be blown due to some unknown reason. The windshield itself could be damaged and lost connection somehow. I would recommend having a qualified professional who is proficcient in electrical diagnosis inspect your vehicle with a wiring diagram. This will help to determine where the fault in the defrost system is located. Once the issue is found, I would recommend having the issue resolved as soon as possible to prevent any safety issues that could result from lack of clear vision through the rear window.

Radio Fault
ANSWER : Hi Kritesh. It sounds like the stereo amplifier in your vehicle has failed internally, lost power, lost ground, or lost signal from the radio. Perform a quick check of the radio functions; change stations, adjust volume, etc… If all of these are showing proper changes on screen, then the problem definitely lies in the amplifier area. Using an electrical wiring diagram, locate the power source and ground for the amplifier and check with a digital volt ohm meter; repair as necessary. Based on my experience with Toyota & Lexus, I’ve found that the amplifier fails much more often than the radio. I suggest having a qualified technician perform an inspection to avoid replacing unnecessary parts. If available in your arear, Your Mechanic has several available technicians that can assist you with a radio has no sound inspection.

Car radio will not pick up radio stations.
ANSWER : There are multiple issues that could cause a radio to not pick up an AM / FM signal. In most cases it’s due to faulty wiring, a loose ground wire or the wiring running to and from the antenna. However, it’s also possible that an internal component inside the radio such as an electrical relay has been damaged. It might be best to purchase a new tuner; as diagnosing and fixing this issue would most likely be more expensive than the cost of buying and installing a new one.
