AC wont blow on max

A couple months ago my alternator blew out, before it blew the AC in my car worked fine. After replacing alternator the ac did not work at all, no cold air, no air flow from vents at all. I replaced the 2 fuses associated with the ac as listed in the owners manual diagram. The ac then worked but only when the car was cold, as soon as car would hit normal running temp the ac would stop running. Then i noticed it worked but only on settings 1-3, not on max. After a couple weeks it stopped getting cold at all, so i purchased a can of refrigerant, following instructions and video exactly, however

Common Reasons AC Doesn`t Run Cold

The most common causes of broken air conditioning leaks or compression issues. If you are feeling cool — but not cold — air, the issue could be a clogged filter, a problem with the cooling fan, signs of radiator trouble, or it could simply mean it`s time to recharge your AC.

Reasons a Dodge Avenger AC Isn`t Working. The most common reasons a Dodge Avenger ac isn`t working are a refrigerant leak, an electrical climate control issue, or a problem with the air conditioning compressor. You may not realize there`s a refrigerant leak until the air conditioner stops blowing cold.
Nine times out of 10, weak airflow is caused by a clogged up cabin air filter. Over time, this filter catches all dirt and debris, which can build up and slow or stop the flow of air. It`s typically located under the dash on the passenger side or inside the glove box and should be cleaned or replaced regularly.
If your car`s air conditioning isn`t blowing cold air at all (or it tries, then turns warm), you could have a clogged expansion valve, a faulty compressor clutch, a leak, or a malfunctioning fuse in the system.
The most common reasons a Ford C-Max ac isn`t working are a refrigerant leak, an electrical climate control issue, or a problem with the air conditioning compressor. You may not realize there`s a refrigerant leak until the air conditioner stops blowing cold.
If your air handler is running but not blowing air, there are two likely scenarios; either a broken AC blower belt or an issue with the motor itself. If the air handler is humming or buzzing, but not making the mechanical sounds of a motor running, you`re most likely talking about an issue with the motor itself.
The ambient temperature sensor (switch) is located either behind the front grille or in the front bumper. Its only job is to monitor air temperature (which it does through increasing/decreasing resistance in response to temperature fluctuations).

Check and change your air filter if needed. If the airflow doesn`t improve and your coils still freeze over, have a professional inspect your system for refrigerant leaks. If you have a leak, they`ll be able to find it, fix it and recharge your system.
* If your HVAC is running but NO air is blowing through the vents, check the filter. If it`s clogged, replace it. You should be replacing the filter on a regular schedule.
Try cleaning your air conditioner`s filter and the coils to see if improving the airflow fixes the problem. If there is ice buildup, you`ll need to run the unit with just the fan in order to melt it off. If that doesn`t get the unit blowing cold air again, it could be refrigerant levels are low (see below).
You might be low on refrigerant or have a worn out motor or a dirty evaporator coil. Not all AC problems demonstrate themselves with loud sounds or funny odors coming from your system. Some of them simply reduce the AC`s ability to run, and all you notice is less cool air in the house.

If the compressor clutch engages and turns the compressor, but the A/C still does not blow cold air, the system is probably low on refrigerant and needs to be recharged.

Overheats When Blowing Warm With Heat & AC But Not When Blowing Cold AC
ANSWER : Hello, thank you for writing in. There are so many different codes being triggered, that it is unlikely all of these systems are having issues at once. We need to focus in on the fact the engine is overheating at all. You will want to check the level and condition of the coolant and the overflow tank. If the level is full then you may have an issue with the thermostat, radiator cap, or water pump. These can all be tested and changed relatively easily. If the main cooling system is okay, you will want to look into the heater core and climate control module. For more diagnostic help, contact our service department to schedule an appointment.

2008 VW Jetta AC not cold
ANSWER : Hi Allen. By far the best way to have your AC system correctly diagnosed is by having an AC inspection completed first. By having one of our professional mobile mechanics come to your location to diagnose the issue correctly, it significantly minimizes the mistakes in completing the wrong service. In your case, the issue could be as simple as needing to have the AC system recharged, or there is an existing leak that needs to be repaired before refilling the refrigerant. Best economic bet is to have the AC inspection completed first.

Ac blows hot in summer heat blows cool in winter
ANSWER : I can understand your confusion and frustration, I believe your Kia is experiencing a few different issues that could all together duplicate the concerns you are experiencing.

It would appear that one or more blend doors, these are inside the dashboard that direct or block fresh air from outside the vehicle entering the cabin, is stuck open. This would explain why you experience cold air in the winter and hot air in the summer. There is a different blend door that will direct or block heat from the heater core inside your dashboard, this door may also be stuck. In regards to the air conditioning, there are a few reasons why it is not working as it is supposed to, however the most common is due to lack of refrigerant.

As you can see, there is a lot going on, therefore I recommend enlisting help of a certified mobile mechanic to stop by and go over your Sedona with you in person and diagnose why you are experiencing these temperature concerns.

Squealing from AC Clutch
ANSWER : The A/C compressor has an electrically controlled clutch mechanism, part of which is visible. The clutch is adjacent to the A/C compressor pulley that has the serpentine belt on it.

When the car is running, and A/C is off you should see the pulley only turning. As you view the pulley turning, have an assistant turn the A/C on max. Make sure car is in park with emergency brake on and wheels are blocked. Do not stand in front of the car, stand to the side.

When your assistant turns A/C on max (blower on, too) you should see the clutch turn with the pulley. That signifies that the compressor is at least "turning" as the clutch is now locked to the pulley.

Now, have the assistant turn max "off" (i.e., use regular A/C setting). The clutch should still be engaged and turning with the pulley, although the clutch might cycle on and off which is normal as the cooling load will vary. If the clutch does not engage with the "normal A/C" setting there is a problem, possibly electrical but also possibly related to the level of refrigerant charge.

You should check the refrigerant charge using a manifold to confirm that pressures are within normal range (if pressures are too low, there is a switch in the system that will shut down the compressor because low pressure does not adequately lubricate the compressor; it is a safety switch).

The squealing sound could have a variety of causes: A/C clutch slipping (in turn would have a variety of causes); belt is damaged, old and worn; misaligned belt pulleys including that on harmonic crankshaft balancer; damaged or dried out (grease) pulley bearings; A/C compressor shaft bearing is bad.

If you feel like this repair may be over your head, have one of our mobile technicians perform these checks and diagnose the issue with your A/C system for an accurate repair. Best of luck.

My ac only blows through defrost vents
ANSWER : Hello. From the symptoms you’ve described it would appear to me that the vehicle may have more than one problem.

The hissing coming from the AC condenser may be a sign of a potential leak, especially if it occurred after you added refrigerant. I’d check to make sure the refrigerant is at the correct level and that there are no leaks present, as any AC refrigerant leaks can cause problems with the functionality of the AC system.

In regards to the air only blowing from your defroster vents, I would check the vehicle’s AC mode switches, and blend door actuator to make sure they are operating soundly. The AC switch controls the modes that the AC blows through, so any issue with the switch may cause problems with what vents the system can operate from.

The blend door actuator is the component that mechanically selects what vents the AC system works through, and if it fails or gets stuck, can produce the symptoms you are experiencing.

If you need assistance with these checks, see the help from a certified mechanic who can diagnose your AC issue firsthand and fix it accordingly.

My AC will not blow air.
ANSWER : Hello,
The blower moto resistor is what controls the speed of the motor rather than the power to the motor. This may be related to a faulty blower motor or blower motor relay. Occasionally, the blower motor itself will wear out or become faulty working intermittently as the brush contacts inside the motor wear out. The blower motor relay supplies power to this motor when you turn the switch to "on" that can sometimes fail. When this happens, you may notice that you will not feel anything blowing out of the vents at all. This may also cause the blower motor to work intermittently. I would suggest having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose your vehicle’s blower motor system.

everytime I turn my car on the ac starts to blow air even if I switch it off. it won’t blow cold air or heat.
ANSWER : Hi there. Based on your question and input, it looks like your AC control switches are damaged, causing the vents to activate even if the switch is not activated. This is sometimes an electrical problem, as it could be triggered by a damaged electrical relay. You might want to have a professional mechanic complete an AC is not working inspection, so they can determine what is causing this issue you’re experiencing and recommend the right repair.
