2006. Chrysler 300c ac on and making a squeaking sound and the clutch is not engaging fully.

Well clutch is not engaging 100 percent and make a loud noise on calling for cooling but i turn the ac off noise goes away. I know is the clutch but my question is or advice is either replace the clutch or whole compressor. And I'm a mechanic myself but never worked on ac parts all.
2006 chrysler 300c Hertitage edition.
My question is should i perform a clutch replacement or compressor replacement?
2nd question by performing a clutch replacement do i need to evacuate the charge and how hard is it to replace a clutch?

My car has 92000 miles.

Experienced mechanics share their insights in answering this question :
The A/C compressor clutch on this vehicle can be removed without taking the compressor out or disturbing the refrigerant charge. To determine whether it is necessary to replace the compressor, once you get the clutch out if the friction friction material surfaces are oily, inspect the shaft and nose area of the A/C compressor for refrigerant oil. If refrigerant oil is found, the compressor shaft seal is leaking and the A/C compressor must be rebuilt or replaced (they are rebuildable; you can just put a new shaft seal in). Check the clutch pulley bearing for roughness or excessive leakage of grease. Replace the pulley and bearing assembly, if required. You might check the clutch relay, just in case it is intermittent, thus causing your problem. If you desire that a certified mechanic resolve the issue that you are having with the clutch/compressor, please simply request an a/c clutch compressor diagnostic/replacement and the responding mechanic will get it diagnosed and repaired for you. How to Identify and Fix Common car Problems ?

Our sources include academic articles, blog posts, and personal essays from experienced mechanics :

Common reasons for this to happen: Failing Water Pump Pulley: The most common cause of squealing or squeaking from the timing belt cover is the water pump pulley. If the bearings in the pulley are beginning to fail, they will make noise.
The most common reasons a Chrysler 300 ac isn`t working are a refrigerant leak, an electrical climate control issue, or a problem with the air conditioning compressor. You may not realize there`s a refrigerant leak until the air conditioner stops blowing cold.
If the compressor clutch doesn`t engage; that usually means, there`s an electrical or mechanical problem with the compressor. If the AC is not blowing cool air into the car, you may want to do a visual inspection of the AC compressor clutch and determine if you can see what might be causing the clutch to not engage.
The most common problems found in the 2006 Chrysler 300 include engine failures, the gear shifter getting stuck in park, and transmission issues. Engine failures are the most common complaint from owners at around 100,000 miles.
Besides brakes squeaking, the most common squeaks are usually associated with your vehicle`s suspension. The squeaking suspension parts are often associated with a lack of lubrication when metal-on-metal wear is happening in connections such as the tie-rods, suspension joints and steering linkage.
A squeaking noise coming from your car`s suspension could signal a significant problem. The suspension system absorbs the shocks and vibrations from bumps, potholes and other defects on the road. It normally provides a smooth ride, but a squealing noise could indicate wear and tear in the springs or shock absorbers.
Common reasons for this to happen: Low Transmission Fluid: For both manual and automatic transmissions, the primary cause for whining when in gear is low transmission fluid. If the fluid is too low, then the internal components of the transmission are not lubricated properly.
As for engine reliability, the Chrysler 300 comes with several engine options, including a 3.6-liter V6, a 5.7-liter V8, and a 6.4-liter V8. These engines are known for their reliability and durability. If properly maintained, the engines can last hundreds of thousands of miles without major issues.
With the 300C, it`s all about the growl, the sweet-sounding exhaust note coming from subtle pipes under the rear bumper. The 340-hp Hemi has to carry 4046 pounds, so it won`t run with a Corvette, but it is plenty fast, with a 0-60 time of 6.3 seconds, according to Chrysler.
High-Pitched Squeal

A loose or worn fan belt, also known as the serpentine belt, is usually the cause. Replacing this belt or belt pulley should eliminate the sound. Consider having the timing belt checked as well.

The most common reasons a Chrysler 300 makes a ticking noise is low oil level or pressure, the ignition system, or, more uncommonly, an exhaust leak.

Bad Bearing On An Engine Accessory Pulley

All the pulleys in this system have bearings that can go bad after many miles. When these bearings go bad, it`s common for them to squeal whenever the engine is running.

A damaged timing belt is one of the most common causes of engine squealing. This metal band runs along the engine block and holds all the moving parts together – including your pistons, valves, and crankshaft. It can become stretched or cracked due to wear and tear as time goes on.

Car idle sputters and engine dies when AC clutch engages
ANSWER : Hi there. In most cases, when the AC compressor and clutch engage, it will draw extra ’power’ from the engine and cause the idle to slightly drop. However, this can cause existing issues to be amplified. For example, if you have dirty fuel injectors, mass air flow sensor or EGR valve on the vehicle, the activation of the compressor clutch will make the symptoms worse and more noticeable. However, if the compressor bearings or clutch is dragging, it can "bog" down the motor even more. It’s a good idea to have a professional mechanic come to your location to complete a car idle is rough inspection to determine if it’s a normal fuel system issue or if the AC system is the source of this problem.

Why won’t the starter motor engage and turn engine over. Also, the clutch pedal won’t move and the clutch is partly engaged but slips.
ANSWER : If the clutch pedal is not moving and the clutch is partially applied, then the clutch release bearing may be damaged and the fork is jammed into the clutch forcing it to slip.

For the no start condition on the starter, try tapping on the starter solenoid and see if the starter engages. If the starter does not engage, then remove the starter and see if it engages without the engine. If the starter does engage, then try to crank the engine over by hand and see if it turns. If the engine does not turn, then the bearings may be locked up or there could be an issue inside the engine. If the engine does move, then the starter needs to be replaced. For the brake lights not shutting off, the brake light switch could be applied as it may be not connected properly on the brake pedal. Check to see the location of the brake pedal light switch and adjust the location to relax the switch. If the switch is relaxed, then the brake light switch would need replaced.

I recommend seeking out a professional, such as one from Your Mechanic, to help you with the no start and clutch issue.

Clutch lost all hydraulic pressure after difficulty engaging gears while using the clutch.
ANSWER : Hello. This situation is usually a failure of either the clutch master or slave cylinder – they simply wear out. If you have any clutch fluid on the drivers side front carpet, the failure is the clutch master cylinder. If the fluid loss is on the ground, under the rear of the engine, the slave cylinder is the failing component. It is often more economical in the long run to replace both with your advanced mileage as they wear at similar rates. I would recommend having the clutch master and slave cylinder replaced by a mobile, professional mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, to repair this problem.

2006 5.4l f150, ac clutch steady ticking when engaged, seems to speed up with acceleration but disappears at speed.
ANSWER : Hi there. This type of ticking noise when the AC is active is common with bearings from the pulley system attached to the compressor starting to fail. It is possible to replace the AC compressor pulley and repair damage to bearings if found early enough, but if the issue continues without repair, you’ll have to replace the AC compressor. It might be best to have a professional mobile mechanic come to your location and complete a car is making a noise inspection to verify where the noise is coming from to be 100 percent certain.

The AC on my 2009 Altima is not working. The clutch does not engage and there is no power at the harness on the compressor.
ANSWER : Hi there. I would highly recommend having one of our professional mobile mechanics come to your location and complete an AC is not working inspection, before attempting further diagnosis. There are several possible reasons why you might be having these problems, so it’s always best to let a professional mechanic with experience in these areas diagnose the issue first.

AC system
ANSWER : If the low side said 40 and the compressor was running, then the high side should be above 175 or more. I think your gauge is not working correctly. Try an check the pressures with the engine off and cool them. The pressure should be about 10 to 15 above your ambient temperature if the system is full. This means it is 90 degrees outside, then you will read around 100 to 115 psi on the gauge with the engine off. When you start the truck, the low pressure should go down as the inside cools down. It should cycle around 24 psi. If you want to have a mechanic take a look at this in person, a certified technician from YourMechanic can come to your home or office to diagnose your AC system.

Clutch pedal didn’t engage and slipped when shifting
ANSWER : Hey there, thanks for writing in about your 2014 Nissan 370Z. It sounds like there may have been a spot of moisture in the light or a component in the clutch hydraulic system may be malfunctioning. Moisture can cause problems during operation when the clutch gets hot and failing hydraulic components can cause the system to lose pressure and slip which will heat up the clutch. If you would like to have this done, a professional from YourMechanic can come to your car’s location to inspect the clutch pedal and perform the appropriate repairs.
